For the most part, hand soap gets the job done—nothing more, nothing less. Rarely does it stop you in your tracks, so when it does, it lingers on your skin and in your mind. Over the years, I’ve kept a running list of the best soaps, candles, and diffusers I’ve encountered at restaurants, scribbled down in a long-forgotten note on my phone that I’ve finally resurrected so that I could finally share it with a larger audience.
